    Al-Shahrani: Promising investment opportunities in Ras Al-Khair port​


    The Director-General of Ras Al-Khair Port, Captain Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Shahrani, said that the next phase will witness development projects for the port, including the allocation of berth No. 9 for containers, to serve the mining factories in Ras Al-Khair, as well as the governorates of Khafji and Hafr Al-Batin, in addition to the neighboring cities, which contributes to increasing the capacity of the ports Eastern Region.​

    ​Al-Shahrani explained during the Tuesday meeting for the business sector, organized by the Asharqia Chamber in its branch in Jubail Governorate, on Tuesday evening, November 9, 2021, and which was managed by the Vice Chairman of the Business Council in the branch, Fahd bin Mutlaq Al-Qahtani, that the large areas inside the port can be exploited and allocated to marine industries, pointing to the existence of investment opportunities in logistical support in the sector. Maritime.

    Al-Shahrani pointed out that the total capacity of the port of Ras Al-Khair port is 35 million tons, only 21.5 percent of the capacity has been exploited, noting that the General Authority of Ports approved storage fees for floors according to the port fees and wages system after the lapse of 21 days for general goods (unloading on berth), and concerning containers exported from the Kingdom, the grace period is 10 days. He indicated that the Ras al-Khair port is a mixture between industrial and commercial, as it contains commercial berths that receive all goods, as there are 5 berths, and it also receives components designated for factories near Ras al-Khair, as well as components for King Salman Complex.

    He pointed to the adoption of a plan, in cooperation with the Royal Commission in Jubail, to raise the number of ​paths to 44 paths, through the participation of the private sector, explaining that Ras Al-Khair port is considered one of the promising ports, as it is distinguished by its proximity to the Ma'aden Company and the Ras Al-Khair Industrial City and Jubail Industrial City.
    Al-Shahrani revealed the existence of a work plan aimed at linking the railways in Jubail, which would give the factories located in "Jubail 2" to benefit from the port's services in export and import.​
